The Key Sunday Cinema Club is the nation's premiere sneak-preview film society. Our members enjoy screenings of the best new independent and foreign films before their local commercial release dates, followed by serious film discussions led by our esteemed moderators. Several times a year, our moderators are joined in discussion by the director, actor, producer or writer whose work has just been screened, or by fellow film scholars and local or national film critics. Above and below are some of the club's past films.

THE DIVING BELL AND THE BUTTERFLY

Based on a true story. In 1995, at the age of 43, Jean-Dominique Bauby suffered a stroke that paralyzed his entire body, except his left eye. Using that eye to blink out his memoir, Bauby eloquently described the aspects of his interior world, from the psychological torment of being trapped inside his own body, to his imagined stories from lands he'd only visited in his mind.

THE BAND'S VISIT

Once, not long ago, a small Egyptian Police band arrived in Israel. They came to play at an initiation ceremony but, due to bureaucracy, bad luck, or for whatever reason, they were left stranded at the airport. They tried to manage on their own, only to find themselves in a desolate, almost forgotten, small Israeli town, somewhere in the heart of the desert. A lost band in a lost town. Not many people remember this. It wasn't that important.

YOUNG @ HEART

Documents the true story of the final weeks of rehearsal for the Young@Heart Chorus in Northampton, MA, whose average age is 81, and many of whom must overcome health adversities to participate. Their music is unexpected -- going against the stereotype of their age group, performing rock and pop songs, for example, by James Brown and Sonic Youth. Although they have toured Europe and sang for royalty, this account focuses on preparing new songs -- not an easy endeavor -- for a concert in their home town, which succeeds in spite of several real heartbreaking events.

His sister-in-law is worried for him, his brother thinks he's nuts, but eventually the entire town goes along with his delusion in support of this sweet natured boy that they've always loved.
