BOCA RATON
Established in the winter of 2001, our Boca Raton chapter has grown to be one of our most successful club cities. Mike Budd continues to lead stimulating discussions about our advanced Sunday morning art film screenings at the Sunrise Mizner Park Cinemas. Due to travel trends amongst our membership, our Boca Raton club is the only one that meets ten times (instead of seven) in only one winter/spring season per year (versus a fall season as well).

YOUNG @ HEARTDocuments the true story of the final weeks of rehearsal for the Young@Heart Chorus in Northampton, MA, whose average age is 81, and many of whom must overcome health adversities to participate. Their music is unexpected -- going against the stereotype of their age group, performing rock and pop songs, for example, by James Brown and Sonic Youth. Although they have toured Europe and sang for royalty, this account focuses on preparing new songs -- not an easy endeavor -- for a concert in their home town, which succeeds in spite of several real heartbreaking events. |

THE BAND'S VISITOnce, not long ago, a small Egyptian Police band arrived in Israel. They came to play at an initiation ceremony but, due to bureaucracy, bad luck, or for whatever reason, they were left stranded at the airport. They tried to manage on their own, only to find themselves in a desolate, almost forgotten, small Israeli town, somewhere in the heart of the desert. A lost band in a lost town. Not many people remember this. It wasn't that important. |
